The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced it will extend the meaningful use attestation deadline for Medicare to March 20, 2015, for the 2014 Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program reporting year. The original deadline was Feb. 28, 2015. However, the extension does not affect the deadline for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program.

The new deadline also applies to those eligible professionals who have not used their one “switch” from Medicare to Medicaid or vice versa for the 2014 payment year.

Additionally, the EHR reporting option was extended until March 20th for eligible providers participating in the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) either through:

  • EHR Direct or Data Submission Vendor that is certified EHR technology (CEHRT)
  • Qualified Clinical Data Registries (QCDRs) that are using the QRDA III format

All submission timeframes for other PQRS reporting methods remain the same.
