Now is the time to consider your internal system design and test the reliability of your documentation and coding. Testing with vendors and getting timely feedback on the claims submitted are effective steps toward achieving success with your ICD-10 implementation goals.

Your vendors may include: payers, software/systems vendors, clearinghouses and billing services. Ask about systems changes, timelines, costs, training and testing plans. Find a list of all the questions to ask by downloading free vendor assessment sheets here.

Communicating with your vendors regularly is important. Encourage them to take action now to avoid reimbursement delays.
