The Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) is changing how member cards for individuals enrolled in Hoosier Healthwise are issued. Each managed care entity (MCE) will assume responsibility for supplying Hoosier Healthwise member ID cards for newly eligible Hoosier Healthwise members enrolled under a health plan, with changes coming in phases:

  • Effective Jan. 1, 2015, each MCE began issuing cards to pregnant Hoosier Healthwise members newly enrolled under their health plan.
  • Effective April 1, 2015, each MCE will begin issuing cards to all other Hoosier Healthwise members newly enrolled under their health plan.

As a result, you may see minor differences in the look of Hoosier Healthwise member cards, although each card will continue to include the member's recipient identification number (RID) and all necessary information to verify eligibility via standard verification processes.

MCEs are not required to replace the cards of existing Hoosier Healthwise members who will continue using their current cards. To learn more, visit the medicaid website.
