You and your colleagues across the nation are urged to call members of Congress and tell them to support H.R. 4015/S. 2000, the bills to repeal Medicare's fatally flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula. While the bills do not address all physician concerns with the current Medicare system, the ISMA has long- standing policy in favor of repealing the SGR.

The current bills include an annual 0.5 percent payment update for physicians for five years. If adopted by March 31, the legislation would remove this year’s scheduled 24.1 percent reimbursement reduction. The measure also has incentives for care coordination and movement toward alternative payment models and the patient centered medical home.

You can email Congress using organized medicine’s Fix Medicare Now campaign site here.

Or, use the toll-free grassroots hotline (800) 833-6354.

Also see letters on the SGR repeal delivered March 5 to the House and Senate leadership – with copies to all members of Congress. More than 600 organizations, including the ISMA, have signed on to these letters.

We are very close to winning this decade-long battle. Let your voice be heard!
