Under a new state law enacted last July, each county must establish a Child Fatality Review team to determine how and why children die, formulate action to help prevent future deaths, and improve the health and safety of Indiana’s children. Help reduce child fatalities by serving on your county’s team.
Each panel should include a:
- Coroner or deputy coroner
- Pediatrician or family physician
- Representative from the local health department
The law also requires the team to include representatives from law enforcement, mental health services, fire departments, prosecutors’ offices, school districts and emergency medical services.
If you are interested in serving, contact the Indiana State Department of Health Child Fatality Review Coordinator Gretchen Martin at (317) 233-1240 or via email.
