IDOI sets PCF surcharge rate
The Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI) has issued a bulletin to notify physicians and hospitals of increasing Patient’s Compensation Fund surcharges. The IDOI commissioner will increase physicians’ PCF rates 13 percent for coverage beginning April 1, 2014. Surcharge rates for hospitals will increase 21.2 percent.

Since 2007, cumulative decreases have netted a 45 percent reduction in surcharge rates across the state. Read the next ISMA Reports for more on this topic.

The ISMA joins UnitedHealthcare challenge
Also, the ISMA has joined several other medical associations in support of a federal lawsuit, filed in Connecticut, challenging United Healthcare's termination of doctors from its Medicare Advantage network. As more details become available, the ISMA will post information online on our website.
