Getting questions about the new health insurance exchanges?

If your patients ask you where they can find information about the new health insurance exchanges, refer them to the federal government’s website at www.healthcare.gov.

Also, find documents from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) listing “10 Things Providers Need to Know” and “10 Things To Tell Your Patients” about the new health insurance marketplaces here.

You can print the latter document as a handout for patients, or refer them to the website.

A number of variables will impact the cost of plans and premiums under these marketplaces created as a result of the Affordable Care Act. The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) offers an online tool to help estimate the costs, which will be based on location, income and age.
