If you are planning a medical mission trip from this month through 2014, you are invited to apply for the ISMA Medical Mission Scholarship. The grant provides an award of up to $3,000 to help defray travel and supply expenses.

Medical Missions LogoA recipient will be selected in a random drawing during the November 2013 ISMA Board of Trustees meeting.

Last year, Merrillville plastic surgeon Nicholas Retson, M.D., used the funds to help Nicaraguan children with cleft palates.

“Grant money from organizations, such as the ISMA, is the reason we can make these trips and change lives. Thank you for your contribution!” Dr. Retson wrote to the ISMA.

Applying is simple
First, obtain the endorsement of your county medical society. Then, submit a letter to the ISMA or email Adele Lash and include:

  • Your name, address, email and phone number(s)
  • Dates and location of proposed trip
  • Information about other sponsors and/or mission coordinators
  • Appropriate documentation, including expense details

For questions, call the ISMA at (317) 261-2060 or (800) 257-4762.
