The Indiana Newborn Screening Tracking & Education Program (INSTEP) has a new web-based application that can provide needed information about your young patients faster.
By registering to use the online program, you can search for records on any child in your practice and view and print screening results in real time rather than faxing requests.
INSTEP was developed by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) to provide a centralized location for data entry and management to:
- Ensure that every newborn in Indiana receives state-mandated screening
- Make certain every infant with a presumptive positive or abnormal newborn screen receives appropriate and timely testing and treatment, and the family receives genetic counseling
- Enhance current standards of care for children diagnosed with newborn screening conditions
To use INSTEP, you must have a current account with the ISDH State Health Gateway. To register visit in.gov. For questions, contact Courtney Eddy, INSTEP director.
