Indiana’s new Medicare administrative contractor, Wisconsin Physician Services (WPS), announced a change for 2013 at the last coalition meeting. Beginning next year, WPS representatives will participate in Medicare coalition meetings via conference call.
Unlike the previous Medicare contractor, WPS is not a local organization and participating in each of the six annual meetings would involve travel and expense. WPS believes the meetings can be accomplished successfully through teleconference, which is how WPS typically conducts education sessions.
Coalition members are still welcome to visit the ISMA to participate in the teleconference, especially if coming to the afternoon Medicaid coalition meeting. However, ISMA staff will be dialing into a teleconference, rather than conducting face-to-face meetings with WPS representatives. The Medicaid coalition meetings will continue to be “in person” sessions with representatives from HP, Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning, and the managed care entities.
Also starting in January, the Medicare/Medicaid Coalition Report, typically mailed with ISMA Reports, will appear only online on the ISMA website. The report will be available sooner following each meeting; find it on the ISMA website.
