Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data show that nearly three out of four drug overdoses are caused by opioid pain relievers. States and the federal government have taken notice of this disturbing increase in deaths. And so have our members.
No fewer than eight resolutions to the ISMA House of Delegates this year relate to abuse of prescription pain medications. To help address this problem, the ISMA will present Responsible Pain Management Prescribing. The half-day program will be offered the morning of Friday, Dec. 7, for continuing medical education (CME) credit.
Live and in five satellite locations around the state, the program will allow physicians to participate close to home. Be sure to watch for additional information as the program date nears.
