The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data show that nearly three out of four drug overdoses are caused by opioid pain relievers. States and the federal government have taken notice of this disturbing increase in deaths. And so have Indiana physicians.
No fewer than six resolutions to the ISMA House of Delegates this year relate to abuse of prescription pain medications.
To help address this problem, the ISMA will present:
Responsible Pain Management Prescribing
The half-day program will be Friday, Dec. 7, and will offer continuing medical education credit.
Offered both live and in five satellite locations around the state, the program will allow physicians to attend close to home. Be sure to watch for additional information coming soon.
