In 2008, more than 60,000 physicians were employed by hospitals, approximately twice the number employed in 2001. If you are considering hospital employment, the AMA has developed two new resources that may help you.

“ACOs, Co-Ops and other Options: A ‘How-To’ Manual for Physicians Navigating a Post-Health Reform World,” provides an overview of the process and legal issues to be considered when negotiating a physician-hospital employment agreement.

Download the free manual on the AMA website.

Also, the AMA offers an e-book to help you and your attorney prepare to negotiate employment contracts with hospitals. “The Annotated Model Physicians-Hospital Employment Agreement” is free to AMA members and $149 for nonmembers.

Access the book at the AMA, or order it here.
