You’re invited to help prevent fraud Untitled document

If you’re in the Indianapolis area and you order or supply durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics or supplies (DMEPOS) to Medicare patients, National Government Services (NGS) needs your help to fight Medicare fraud.

In July, Indianapolis-area physicians and suppliers located in the pilot ZIP codes will receive a free magnetic swipe card that can be read using existing credit card terminals. The card will be used to capture information about physician orders for DMEPOS.

The goals of this pilot, authorized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, are to implement a system that protects provider specific information, such as your NPI, from misuse or identity theft, and to reduce inappropriate payments in the DMEPOS program.

Data from the credit card terminals will be used to validate that DMEPOS orders were appropriately initiated in a physician’s office and then supplied accordingly by the DMEPOS supplier.

Note that protected information about you and the patient will not be transmitted via the card. To get started, please follow the activation and use instructions you receive with the card.
