BILL: SB 315 – Long Term Care Screening and Counseling
AUTHOR: Sen. Gary Dillon, R-Pierceton
SPONSOR: Rep. Phil Hoy, D-Evansville
ISMA POSITION: Neutral

THIS WEEK: The House Public Health Committee amended the bill and then approved it. The measure now moves to the full House for consideration.

The original bill required the state to adopt a rule to implement a screening and counseling program for individuals seeking long-term care services and to implement a process of prior approval for certain individuals seeking admission to a nursing facility.

SB 315 was amended to reinstitute a moratorium on the addition of long-term care beds in Indiana. This moratorium only applies to nursing home beds and does not impact hospitals or ambulatory surgery centers.
