Update: HB 1349 - Legend Drug Prescriptions by Optometrists
HB 1349 allows optometrists certified by the optometric board to administer, dispense and prescribe certain narcotic drugs, codeine with compounds and hydrocodone with compounds.
At press time Feb. 8 for e-Legislative News and the printed ISMA Legislative News, HB 1349 was eligible for a vote by the full House of Representatives. In late afternoon on Feb. 8, the bill did pass out of the House with a vote of 86 – 9. In the second half of this General Assembly session, the bill will be considered in the Senate, sponsored by Sen. Ryan Mishler, R-Bremen, and Sen. Vi Simpson, D-Bloomington.
