Anatomy & Physiology/Medical Terminology for Medical Office Staff

Improving CPT and ICD-9-CM coding means filling in the pieces omitted from the coder's learning process. Typically, that involves an education in basic anatomy and physiology. The names of body parts and functions are then used to create medical terms with prefixes and suffixes. Using this structural analysis, your medical vocabulary increases easily.

Understanding medical terminology can also help you increase both the accuracy and speed of your coding. You will leave with the foundation needed to build a working medical vocabulary useful in coding, charting and medical office procedures.

At the end of the program you should be able to:

  • Analyze, define, spell and pronounce terms according to component word parts
  • Recognize the basics of body structure and function
  • Recognize key words and commonly used abbreviations
  • Review body systems and organs
  • Review normal and pathological conditions

Included with presentation: manual, light breakfast and lunch.
