We reported this week in the ISMA Reports about two ways to avoid the 2012 e-prescribing penalty. CMS has proposed a change that includes several exemptions you may qualify for. The comment period on this proposed rule change will close July 25. Go here to read about the proposed exemptions.
Now, say you’re purchasing (or installing) an EHR, but you are not quite up and running? There is a way for you to meet the e-prescribing requirement if you hurry. You must submit 10 electronic prescriptions before June 30 to qualify for the 1 percent Medicare bonus.
We’ve learned there is a free product from Allscripts, a health technology vendor, that can help you. Sign-up on the NationalRx website. Full disclosure: This information is not an endorsement, but is offered to assist you in meeting the requirement to receive the 1 percent Medicare bonus. Read more here.
