Webinars will address prescribing of opioids

ISMA recognizes the importance of connecting physicians to quality and easy-to-access continuing medical education (CME) that incorporates the most current information on how we can reduce addiction in Indiana. To keep physicians up-to-date, ISMA plans a webinar series on opioid prescribing, beginning in October. Sessions will focus on a different opioid topic each month to address the needs of health care providers in multiple specialties.

Webinars last about an hour and will take place at noon on the third Thursday of each month. Topics to be addressed include Difficult Conversations with Patients Seeking Opioids, Appropriate Prescribing of Controlled Substances, Peri- Operative Protocols for Pain & Those Prone to Addiction, Addressing Opioid Challenges in Special Populations, Assessing Complex Chronic Pain and INSPECT. Information and registration for the first webinar will be opening soon.

We would like your feedback on specific opioid topics you would like to see addressed, as well as other important clinical issues. Please answer a short survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/RGSTWCK to help us as we develop our 2018 education plan. If you have any questions, please contact ISMA at seminars@ismanet.org.
