ISMA Resolutions help you advocate for patients
ISMA Resolutions, introduced each year during convention at the House of Delegates, help drive ISMA’s public policy and legislative agenda at the Indiana Statehouse. Only ISMA members may submit resolutions, and all resolutions must be submitted before Monday, July 30, 2018.

Here are some tips for writing an effective resolution:
  • Determine a clear action or stand you would like the ISMA to take on an issue, and the reasons.
  • Write a short title.
  • Include your name or the names of ISMA members introducing the resolution.
  • Develop one or more “Whereas” statements explaining the issue and why ISMA action is requested.
  • Conclude with one or more “Resolved” statements, which must stand alone and say what you want the ISMA to do, in a clear and specific action plan. For example: “Resolved, that the ISMA seek legislation that would allow schools to stock unassigned auto-injectable epinephrine for use in cases of life-threatening allergic reactions before, during and after school.”

It’s also a good idea to check the ISMA Public Policy Manual for existing policies on topics a new resolution might reference.
